Gothic Text
The first two options use Unicode Fraktur and bold Fraktur. The third option, labeled Outline, uses double-struck letters; it is a decorative comparison, not blackletter.

Fraktur Exceptions
Regular Fraktur uses legacy letters β, β, β, β and β¨ for C, H, I, R and Z. These characters come from Letterlike Symbols. Bold Fraktur uses its assigned mathematical alphabet. Neither should be described as Double-Struck Fraktur.
Choosing a Place for Blackletter
A short fictional game title or decorative heading can use blackletter as a visual motif. Keep server rules and essential community information in plain text. Discordβs unique username has different validation rules from its display name and server nickname; see the Discord field guide. This page does not promise that a username field accepts these characters.
Missing Letters and Digits
Fraktur converts the basic Latin letters. Its digits remain ordinary digits because there is no dedicated Fraktur digit alphabet. If the receiving font lacks the selected glyphs, use ordinary text or the appβs own typography tools.
Fraktur and Outline Use Different Exceptions
The regular Gothic option and the Outline comparison both draw some capitals from Letterlike Symbols, but their exception lists differ. This table records each such capital from the engine:
| Alphabet | Input | Output | Code point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fraktur | C | β | U+212D |
| Fraktur | H | β | U+210C |
| Fraktur | I | β | U+2111 |
| Fraktur | R | β | U+211C |
| Fraktur | Z | β¨ | U+2128 |
| Double-struck | C | β | U+2102 |
| Double-struck | H | β | U+210D |
| Double-struck | N | β | U+2115 |
| Double-struck | P | β | U+2119 |
| Double-struck | Q | β | U+211A |
| Double-struck | R | β | U+211D |
| Double-struck | Z | β€ | U+2124 |
Lowercase Fraktur runs continuously from U+1D51EβU+1D537; it has none of those capital-letter exceptions. Bold Gothic uses U+1D56CβU+1D585 for capitals and U+1D586βU+1D59F for lowercase letters.
The digit behavior is another way to distinguish the choices. Both Fraktur options leave 0123456789 plain. Outline substitutes all ten digits using U+1D7D8βU+1D7E1. Thus switching a numbered label from Gothic to Outline changes the numerals as well as the alphabet. ASCII punctuation and spaces remain untouched in all three options. The explanation of Unicode characters versus font glyphs describes why choosing an alphabet changes the stored text.
Before You Paste
Keep a plain version of a blackletter name, since a destination may reject its mathematical characters or lack glyphs for the legacy Fraktur capitals.
